From Facebook to Gossip Girl

Randi Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook’s founder has left her role as Director of Marketing at Facebook and opened her own firm, R to Z Media.  Her mission? To help companies take advantage of social media.

Her firm’s debut was covered by the NYTimes (Fashion and Style) listing her numerous ambitions, including appearing on Broadway, hosting a chat show and being taken seriously.

Terrible placement. The Style pages are rarely generous and the article was more cattily fascinated by tequila shots than her views regarding social media.  A bad start for business but great for a cameo in Gossip Girl.

The PR Verdict:  “D “ for Randi and her PR strategy. Where you say something is just as important as what you say. Next time, aim for a business magazine and discuss the marketing successes at Facebook. There is plenty to brag about.
