A recently unearthed Herman Cain campaign advertisement for the Republican nomination spotlights his campaign manager and the candidate. It is astonishingly light on specifics but heavy on sonorous clichés about “Taking America Back.”
Odd moments include his campaign manager taking a puff from a cigarette and blowing smoke at the camera with the background song “I am America.”
Apart from its weirdly amateurish quality, the advertisement lays little groundwork for the future. If Cain wants to win the nomination, this advertisement narrows his appeal not broadens it.
The PR Verdict: C Minus for the Cain Camp. A great adverstisement if you are running for President of the local Rifle Association. Not so great as President of the USA. Besides, close cropped camera angles only work for supermodels.
