Rupert Murdoch: Why does the drum roll on?

[polldaddy poll=5588459][polldaddy poll=5588459][polldaddy poll=5588459]Is there no end to the travails of News International?

The hacking scandal won’t go away despite an almost perfect execution of standard crisis management procedures. Heads have rolled, apologies were made and the contaminated business was closed. And the crisis rumbles on? Why?

Maybe its News International’s scarcely believable insistence that management was unaware what was going on? When its outside counsel confirmed the investigation into hacking allegations was deliberately narrow and restricted, Murdoch lost credibility.

Acknowledging instead the newsrooms ran a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy might be a more flexible option.  Time to change PR tack.

The PR Verdict:  B Minus – This has been a textbook case of how to handle a PR crisis and strangely it is STILL not working. Change tack now before you are cornered into contradicting previous testimony.

What is Your PR Verdict?

  1. Shefali Malhoutra says:

I worry that this is a textbook case of how to handle a PR crisis because, as a member of the public, I feel nothing but sceptical about the information we are being played. And I mean played. Few believe the party line. The lack of sincerity or integrity anywhere in evidence can only give PR as an industry a bad name – spin over truth.
