RUTH MADOFF, 60 MINUTES AND WHAT WE DIDN’T HEAR….

RUTH MADOFF, 60 MINUTES AND WHAT WE DIDNT HEAR....Ruth Madoff’s interview with 60 Minutes spectacularly avoided the one message we wanted to hear.

Just as an airline apologizes to the families of crash victims, despite not having been there when the plane went down, what was needed was an apology acknowledging the suffering of friends and clients who had placed their trust in her husband.  More grief for others was required from Ruth and rather less about her attempted suicide as the “hate mail” mounted.

An apology, even if she wasn’t directly responsible, was the very least she should have offered. Without one, her interview rang hollow.

The PR Verdict:  “D Minus” for Ruth Madoff. This interview didn’t move the dial in her favor. If agreeing to an exclusive interview, insist that your key message is aired unedited. Unless of course you don’t think an apology is required.

What is Your PR Verdict?

  1. What about the son – he was worse!

  2. Mike Marder says:

A hard woman… with the loss of her life style, her husband and one of her sons, she came across as a person expecting absolution.

  3. Great day! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I?m not extremely techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I?m thinking about creating my own but I?m not sure where to begin. Do you have any suggestions or suggestions? Thanks

  4. Paul Marrone Paul Marrone says:

A “Rashomon” like reaction to her interview. Actually, she has no financial gain from doing it and based on his conduct of isolating his fraudulent business from his family/others, sure many expect her/them to bear some guilt…but just maybe they really knew nothing until his confession to them. Not sure she owes an apology as not sure she bears the accountability as his surrogate to the public. Should every wife/life partner apologize for the egregious conduct of their spouse/partner?
