The media has vaguely disapproved of the ongoing Wall Street sit-in with the implicit criticism being that protestors have failed to articulate a clear agenda via a designated spokesperson. What this misses is that in recent years most anti globalization/ G8 protests have been much the same – no single voice and a broad grab bag of interests. Social media and the power of the individual have fractured the single and united voice. Protesters are now activated by multiple issues and have numerous perspectives, all of which makes tidy pre-packaged messages from a representative spokesman something of the past.
The PR Verdict: B Plus – for the media. Times have changed and life is messy
